Default Read The Wind vs. Kindle Arrows

Which is better Read the Wind or Kindle Arrows. I know Read the Wind makes it harder to dodge the arrows, but Kindle Arrows does twice the damage. If you use skills such as Dual Shot, it makes a big deal. I just want to know your opinion on this.

The Ultimate Deciding Factor (the UDF) in this decision should be which attribute you have at a higher rank: Marksmanship or Wilderness Survival. If Marksmanship is higher, I'd use Read the Wind. If Wilderness Survival is higher, I'd use Kindle Arrows.

Also, what type of Ranger are you trying to make? If you're just trying to go for the highest damage possible, use Kindle Arrows. If you're trying to make a Ranger that specializes in disrupting the enemy (using skills like Distracting Shot, Savage Shot, Concussion Shot, etc.), use Read the Wind because the arrows will fly faster and you'll have an easier time making your disruption skills work.

Another thing to consider is what type of bow you have. If you have a bow that could really benefit from faster arrows (like a flatbow), Read the Wind might be the best choice under any circumstances.

"Read the Wind" uses marksmanship and "Kindle Arrows" uses wilderness survival. So it much depends on your set-up with your attribute points.

I would go for "Kindle Arrows" because of the fire damage (Ignite Arrows if you want to hit more than one enemy but with less damage).

For arrows shooting faster you can use "Favorable Winds" (also good for many other things )

Bows acts differently, so you might want to use the one with the best refiring rate and best flight-time.

Happpy hunting.

heh.. Severin reminded me of my favorite combo in PvE so far with my ranger.. Favorable Winds & Ignite Arrows Especially handy around bosses and/or groups of mobs. Stop just outside their aggro, drop FW and then IA and then Dual-Shot into them when they are masses for hoardes of goody damage to them all!

Combo is ripe for groups.. and works well with Reyna along as well.. since she uses Ignoite Arrow as well.. so double the fire exploding fun! hehehe

but the 2 previous posts answered your question I personally use IA over RTW even though my Wilderness Survival is low right now because I've found the group damaging ability of IA is much better for me right now than the extra damage and speed of shots from RTW - and with use of FW I can get the same effect and some extra damage on-top of the fire explosion. *shrugs* just my opinion.

gotta say the best part is to have IA on and be on a ledge demolishing enemy groups down below that can't get to you now thats what I call Fun! whee!

I never used to use read the winds purly because I disliked the short time it lasts, plus it can be replaced with favourable winds so you can still have a preperation. But not long ago I got practiced stance, which makes your preperations charge faster and last longer, so I tried out read the winds with my longbow and it really made a difference. Although using ignite arrows and practiced stance is great as it lasts for soooo long.
